The Eichmann Trial: Fifty Years Later Fifty years ago one of the chief operators of the mass execution of Jews was tried for crimes against humanity. In her new book, The Eichmann . Eichmann was convicted of war crimes and hung in One of the major figures in The Eichmann Trial was Israeli Attorney General Gideon Hausner, who prosecuted Eichmann’s case. Hausner was infamously portrayed by Arendt as an over-the-top and demagogic politician less concerned with trying Eichmann fairly than making him an example.

The Accused, Adolf Eichmann, was an Austrian by birth who volunteered to work for the Security Service (SD) in Berlin. He rose through the ranks and eventually occupied the position of Head of Section (Referant) for Jewish Affairs charged with all matters related to the implementation of the Final Solution to the Jewish Question. Today, we're gonna begin by talking about the Eichmann Problem. And we're gonna start at the end. You'll recall from last time that I told you that in , the Israeli Secret Service, the Mossad, discovered that Eichmann was living under an assumed name in Buenos Aires.

The Trial itself was held in Israel and was for Adolf Eichmann, previously a Nazi SS officer in charge of the transportation of Jews, Gypsies, and other Eastern European people from Ghettos and encampments to Nazi killing concentration camps like Auschwitz. The trial of Adolf Eichmann marked a watershed moment in the relationship between the experiences of victims, their impact on society, and the demands of justice in the aftermath of war and mass atrocity.
